Specifically, Auckland’s Mini Program activates the local Chinese community to serve as destination advocates, interacting with tourists in real-time to share local recommendations, tips as well as answer general visitor questions. Additionally, it provides the latest destination information, and allows local ambassadors and visitors alike to post their favorite moments and experiences in a feed-like format.

Singapore Tourism Board (STB) leveraged WeChat’s Mini Program to transform its traditional paper brochure guide into an interactive digital experience. STB added QR codes for its WeChat Official Account and WeChat Mini Program within 700,000 tourist brochures it issues quarterly, so that Chinese tourists may easily access information and guidance related to scenic spots, restaurants, shopping, tour routes and other attractions in real-time.

The Australian Tourism Board created Mini Program experiences for various States and Territories directly accessible from within its Official Account, including Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territories. A unique interface for each city destination is featured within the State or Territory’s Mini Program, including local attractions, shops, dining, hotels as well as a personal diary keeping feature.
